Warning over online scammers targeting iPhone buyers
The Da Nang Police Department has issued a warning against scams in which fraudsters cheat people out of their money through fraudulent trades via Zalo, and this type of fraud has been reported in some Vietnamese provinces and cities.
In recent times, scammers have duped online shoppers into purchasing iPhone devices on Zalo social network. They use many unregistered phone numbers to set up such Zalo accounts such as Mobile iphone and American Apples to sell iPhone devices at extremely low prices to draw attention to their victims.
After the two sides reach agreement on the price, the fraudster requires the victims to pay deposit worth 30% of the item’s value by transferring their money into the scammers’ saving accounts. Soon after, the contact was quickly cut off after money is received.
To avoid being swindled, the general public is advised to be on a high alert against such online scams, online trading on the current social networking apps. In case of any suspicious acts or requests from such callers, please report to the local police.
