The main reason is thought to be that the southern low pressure trough is developing, but foehn wind in the southwest region is getting weaker.
Accordingly, severe heatwave conditions only occur in some mountainous areas of the north-central region, with the highest temperatures in the day declining by 1-2 degree Celsius.
In these areas, highs soar between 35 and 37 degree Celsius on the average temperatures in the daytime, and even 39 degree Celsius, especially from 10.00am until 4.00pm.
Meanwhile, the lowest humidity is reported as between 40 and 50%.
In addition, tornadoes, lightning, and thunderstorms will be possible in vulnerable areas in the region’s mountainous areas in the late afternoon and evening due to the effects of extreme hot spells.
Also, the Centre warns of an increased risk of fires in residential areas due to hot weather associated with low humidity, plus the increased demand for electricity.
Specially, people can be vulnerable to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke as they are exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
The municipal Forest Management Department has already issued a warning of a high risk of forest fires at alarming level 3 and forest fires will be possible to become more widespread and destructive due to prolonged dry spells and heat waves. Therefore, district and ward-level forest protection and management boards must be on a high alert against possible forest fires.
