The collected money is expected to help those in need, including reporters in difficult circumstances. This is a move in active response to the city’s ongoing ‘The City of 4 Safe Programmes’.

Jointly organised by the municipal Journalists’ Association and the municipal Department of Education and Training, the event was attended by municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh, along with a large number of government employees, reporters, teachers and philanthropists across the city.

The monthly ‘Ly Ca Phe Yeu Thuong’ programme is held on the first Saturday morning of each month. Each cup of coffee or other optional types of beverages is priced at only 50,000 VND, which covers the payment for the drink and financial donations for the programme.

In particular, New Hawaii coffee shop- one of the sponsors of the program – has pledged to donate 10% of its revenue during this monthly programme.

Apart from appealing for generous donors to help the needy, the monthly programme creates an ideal rendezvous for local reporters to have the opportunity to meet and exchange their professional skills with one another, as well as show their responsibility towards the community.

Mr Hong Quang Nam, the Vice Chairman of the city’s Journalists’ Association remarked, since its inception last October, this highly practical and meaningful programme has attracted a great deal of attention from generous and kind-hearted donors, hereby bringing more financial aids and compassion to those living in difficult circumstances.
