The traditional music performances offer a good opportunity for local artistes to show off their talents.
Accordingly, artistes from the clubs of Traditional Music, Folk Song, Bamboo Flute, and Song Han Bai Choi (Singing While Acting as Playing Cards) will perform folk songs of northern, central and southern regions, as well as play some traditional Vietnamese musical instruments such as bamboo flutes, monochords, and drums.
Besides, there are calligraphy writing displays, and souvenir stands to satisfy the diversified demands of visitors.
Apart from enriching tourism products to serve the increasing demands of locals and visitors, folk music performances aim to preserve and promote the values of traditional music.
Meritorious artist Hai Yen, Deputy Head of the Folk Song Club, said local residents show keen interest in listening to folk songs of Central Viet Nam but they can only enjoy this traditional music in communal house festivals.
Therefore, she was really felt very happy and excited to perform folk songs at such public areas at weekends to serve local residents and visitors.
Like Mrs Hai Yen, Meritorious artist Trinh Manh Hung, who can play more than 10 different types of flutes over the past 4 decades, expressed his happiness at his live flute performances to serve locals and tourists.
Mr Hung said his Traditional Music Club was originally known as the Green Bamboo Band which was founded in 1993.
Currently, his club has many artistes who can play two types of traditional Vietnamese musical instruments at the same time.
“Since 1993, we have been performing at many places but this is the first time we have performed in such public area. Therefore, this offers the good opportunity for us to preserve and promote the traditional values of the regional folk music effectively”, Mr Hung noted.
He emphasised in addition to performing, the artists of his Traditional Music Club organise training courses at the municipal Culture and Movie Centre for those who have a passion for traditional musical instruments.
