6.13 billion VND raised for AO victims

On Sunday evening, a charity musical concert ‘Joining Efforts to Relieve Pain of Agent Orange (AO) victims’ took place at Da Nang’s Trung Vuong Theatre.

Attending at the event were Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee (PaC) Vo Cong Tri, Head of PaC’s Mass Mobilisation Board Pham Quy, municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Le Minh Trung, and People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman Chinh spoke highly of local AO for their ceaseless efforts in overcoming their difficulties and destinies to become useful citizens.

He also highly lauded the great efforts made by the Da Nang Association of AO Victims (DAVA) in providing the best care for AO victims, as well as acting as a bridge to appeal for generous individuals and organisations from both home and abroad to give great support for local AO victims.

Mr Chinh pledged that the municipal authorities would create very favourable conditions for DAVA to continue giving the best care for AO victims.

The charity musical concert attracted a great deal of attention from generous individuals and organisations. Amongst, 200 million VND from the budget of municipal People’s Committee, and 50 million VND from the budget of the Viet Nam Association of AO Victims were donated to AO victims.

Also at the event, 21 gifts, worth 700,000 VND each, were given to AO victims. Flowers and certificates were presented to generous individuals and organisations from both home and abroad in recognition of their active involvement in helping AO victims.

Between 20 June and 4 August, a total of 6.13 billion VND in cash and materials was raised from 245 domestic and foreign individuals and organisations to help AO victims.
