Seriously injured fisherman safely brought back to mainland
Rescue ship SAR 412 from the Da Nang-based Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre No 2 brought a sick crew member of fishing boat QNg 97252 from Quang Ngai Province safely back to the mainland for treatment last Saturday.
At around 7.00pm on 22 August, 25-year-old Tran Ngoc Hoi suffered a tendon rupture after an unexpected labour accident whilst his fishing boat was operating to the south of the Hoang Sa Archipelago. Soon after, the victim had a high fever and convulsions, and then felt unconscious.
After receiving an SOS message from the boat’s captain, the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) immediately helped his crew members to access radio medical consultation services for first aid instructions.
Unfortunately, Hoi’s wound turned worse later. In an effort to save the life of the fisherman, at 5.41pm on 23 August, the Viet Nam MRCC asked the Da Nang MRCC to immediately send out its rescue ship SAR 412, carrying doctors from the Da Nang Emergency Centre 115, to help him.
At 4.05am on 24 August, SAR 412 reached the fishing boat, and the sick fisherman recovered from critical condition after having received initial first aid. The victim was then transferred to the rescue ship for bringing back to the mainland for further care.
At 9.00am on the same day, the victim was safely brought to the Quy Nhon Port, Binh Dinh Province.
