The Da Nang Department of Transport and the Da Nang branch of the Telecommunications Group (VNPT), on Thursday, entered into an agreement to build an intelligent transport system (ITS) in the city.

The signing of the agreement is within the framework of the cooperation programme, signed by the municipal administration and VNPT last year, on turning Da Nang into an IT-dependent smart city over the 2018 – 2020 period.

Under the agreement, the city’s branch of VNPT will help the transport sector promote the application of IT, telecommunications and automation services, along with perfect the traffic database management system.

Also, effective State management measures will be taken to promote digital transformation in the transport sector.

The above-mentioned implementation steps are highly expected to enhance locals’ living standards and the State management capacity as well, hereby making smart public transport become a spearhead, breakthrough sector in the building of Da Nang into a smart city.
