Despite many difficulties, teacher Nguyen Tho is determined to devote his life to teaching poor pupils in mountainous areas in Da Nang.

Mr Tho is dedicated to mountainous pupils

After his graduation in 1987, Mr Tho became a teacher at a primary school in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Lien Commune. Thanks to his enthusiastic attitude and friendly behaviour, the young teacher was always loved by his pupils.

Many years later, Mr Tho was appointed Deputy Headmaster of the primary school.

In 2009, he was promoted to the Headmaster of the Hoa Bac Primary School in the namesake commune in Hoa Vang District.

Despite transport difficulties and a lack of equipment and infrastructural facilities for teaching and learning, Mr Tho has made every effort to fulfill his assigned tasks.

Tho has faced difficulties in communication because many of his pupils are ethnic minorities. However, this couldnot prevent him from teaching and talking to them.

Mr Tho has always given spiritual encouragement to his colleagues there, as well as build a sense of solidarity amongst them, in order to encourage them to have a strong attachment to their school.

Apart from teaching activities, Mr Tho has paid special attention to improving the quality of meals for his pupils in a bid to enhance their overall mental and physical development.

With the motto ‘Loving pupils like his own children’, the dedicated teacher has always paid close attention to his pupils both in classrooms and at home.

Any pupils have taken sick leave, Mr Tho and their homeroom teachers have visited them at home to give gifts and spiritual encouragement.

Currently, the Hoa Bac Primary School has deteriorated, and it has been facing a severe shortage of teaching and learning equipment, plus facilities. Besides, the school has been hit by flooding after heavy rain. Therefore, Mr Tho hopes that a new and well-equipped school would be built in the future in a bid to enhance the quality of teaching and learning activities.

Having 33 years' experience of working in education and training sector, and 10 years’ experience of working as the Headmaster of the Hoa Bac Primary School in Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District, teacher Nguyen Tho has made great dedication to poor pupils in the mountainous areas.

With his great love and determination, it is hoped that teacher Tho will overcome all difficulties to continue working in the mountainous commune, and help his pupils make their dreams come true.
