Some local coastal restaurants and hotels violate environmental regulations
The Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment has inspected the use of underground water and wastewater treatment activities at a total of 50 eastern coastal hotels and restaurants located in the districts of Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son.
In detail, 16 out of the inspected establishments were found to have gone against their environmental impact assessment (EIA) reports approved by the municipal administration.
In particular, 3 establishments were found to have increased the project scale in terms of the number of rooms and basements, which violates EIA reports and construction permits.
The inspectors from the Department also took random discharge samples from 20 establishments.
As a result, effluent from 12 of inspected establishments exceeded the limit, whilst 4 other establishments had the technological process of their wastewater treatment systems changed much, compared to the approved EIA reports.
Besides, 100% of the inspected facilities didnot have their wastewater flow meters installed.
Also through the inspection, the inspectors also discovered many violations of the use of underground water committed by some establishments.
Some establishments also failed to present their completed dossiers and construction drawings of environmental protection works at the time of inspection.
