The newly-released turtle was found stranded on the Sang Beach in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Bac Ward on 24 November by fisherman Nguyen Hung who is residing in Hoa Vang District’s Truong Dinh Village.

After finding the turtle, Mr Hung reported the case to the functional bodies. The turtle weighs about 15kg, and is 67cm in length and 43cm in width.

After that, the municipal Bureau of Fisheries in collaboration with the Hai Van Border Guard Station and the SaSa rescue team released the rare animal to the wild in the Van Village in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward.

The sea turtle is listed as an endangered species by the Vietnamese government. The Red Book of Viet Nam also named the turtle as a threatened species in need of special protection.
