The first recipient was Le Dang Hoang Huy, a 9th grader from the city-based Tay Son Junior High School.
About 9 months ago, Huy was diagnosed with end-stage leukemia. Doctors of the Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital emphasised that a bone marrow transplant was required to save Huy’s life, but his family couldnot afford such live-saving therapy which costs hundreds of millions of VND.
The second one was Ms Le Dang Diem Chau who is residing in La Bong Village, Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District. After her husband was killed in a traffic accident, Ms Chau is shouldering the burden of caring for 3 little children and her elderly mother-in-law as she earns only a little money from doing odd jobs.
Also, 5 million VND went to help the family of teacher Le Huynh Phuong Trieu of the Hoa Lu Primary School in Thanh Khe District who died in childbirth.
Also in November, 6 gifts, each worth 5 million VND, were given to the poor in Da Nang, and the provinces of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.
