An inter-provincial bus route between Da Nang and Hue City was officially launched on Wednesday morning.

In his remarks at the launching ceremony, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung highlighted the significance of the new bus route in improving the quality of public transport services in the two localities, as well as meeting the growing travel demand of locals and tourists.

He also underscored the importance of the two-way bus route in reducing the use of private vehicles in the city centres, and stopping illegal coaches violating the cities’ regulations on parking or picking up and dropping off passengers.

Vice Chairman Dung took the opportunity to ask the transport departments of Da Nang and Hue City to ensure the smooth operation of the bus routes in accordance with the national regulations.

He hoped that more such high-quality bus routes should be launched in the city in the near future in order to better serve travelling demand of local residents, and reduce traffic congestion in the city centre.

According to Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Transport Nguyen Thanh Thuan, the bus route will be the Da Nang Coach Station - Ton Duc Thang - Nguyen Luong Bang - Nguyen Van Cu - Hai Van Tunnel - National Highway No 1 - An Duong Vuong - Nguyen Tat Thanh - the Hue Coach Station.

A total of 82 K29-standard buses operate daily on this route every 14 - 15 minutes from 5.00am - 7.00pm. All of them are equipped with air conditioning, and installed with Global Positioning System (GPS) car tracking equipment, and security cameras.

One-way ticket price on this 100km route stands at 70,000 VND (US$3), and commuters can pay for every stop on the route.
