The Da Nang Youth Union recently held a blood donation campaign to collect blood to use in case of emergencies and treatment in public hospitals across the city.

The campaign attracted a large number of university students and youth union members. During the campaign, about 500 units of blood in total were collected from young donors.

Secretary of the municipal Youth Federation Nguyen Manh Dung said public hospitals in the city are facing a shortage of blood supplies for emergencies and treatment. He explained that the main reason is that many voluntary blood donation campaigns in the city have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Mr Dung remarked his organisation has made every effort to ensure the success of the campaign to encourage even more young people to get actively involved in this meaningful event.

He highlighted the significance of the campaign in replenishing the community blood supply for local public hospitals, as well as encouraging young people to strengthen community spirit and to show willingness to join in the city’s fight against coronavirus (Covid-19).

During the campaign, blood donors were provided with guidelines for the prevention of Covid-19 infection, and received free face masks.
