13 new imported coronavirus cases recorded on Monday and Tuesday in Viet Nam

Thirteen new imported cases of Covid-19 were reported in Viet Nam on Monday and Tuesday, raising the total to 396, according to figures released by Viet Nam's National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control at 6.00am on 21 July.

Amongst, one new case of Covid-19 were reported in Viet Nam on Monday evening.

The 384th patient is a 27-year-old Russian expert who landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on 11 July and had been put under quarantine upon arrival in Viet Nam.

After moving to a quarantine area in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, he tested negative for the virus on July 13. Five days later, he showed symptoms of fever, sore throat and back pain.

His sample was sent to the Pasteur Institute in HCM City and he was found to be positive for the virus.

Earlier, nine patients on the same flight were found positive for Covid-19 and they had been quarantined in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Meanwhile, the remaining 12 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Viet Nam on Tuesday morning.

They all arrived into the country on a repatriation flight from Russia on 17 July.

The new cases are: a 51-year-old woman from Ha Nam Province, a 53-year-old man from Ha Nam Province, a 25-year-old man from Nam Dinh Province, a 24-year-old man from Nghe An Province, a 34-year-old man from Thanh Hoa Province, a 41-year-old man from Khanh Hoa Province, a 24-year-old man from Hai Phong City, a 24-year-old woman from Thai Binh Province, a 26-year-old man from Thai Binh Province, a 25-year-old man from Nam Dinh Province, a 26-year-old man from Ha Noi’s Ung Hoa District, and a 38-year-old man from Khanh Hoa Province.

Some are being treated at the Nam Dinh General Hospital and the others at a clinic in Ninh Binh Province’s Hoa Lu District.

The country has gone 96 days without a domestically transmitted infection.

Among the confirmed cases, 244 were overseas arrivals, and they were quarantined on arrival.

Meanwhile, 360 Covid-19 patients have fully recovered as of 6am on 20 July. No fatalities have been recorded.

Most of the remainders are in stable condition, including four negative for the virus once and another at least twice.

Currently, there are 11,697 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit areas in quarantine across Viet Nam: 141 in hospitals, 10,486 in other quarantine sites, and 1,070 at home or their places of residence.
