The sweltering heat is set to continue blazing through some parts of the mid-central region of Viet Nam from Quang Binh and Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, over next 3 days, the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said.   

The hot spell is resulted from the influence of the developing southern low pressure trough associated with a strong foehn wind in the southwest region.

The hot weather is expected to last with the sun set to shine into the weekend across many parts of Central Viet Nam, and the mercury is expected to soar 37 degrees Celsius.  

The forecaster said that the weekend could be classified as “heatwave territory” as records look set to be smashed.

The soaring temperatures have come with warnings of thunderstorms, lighting and strong winds in mountainous areas in the nighttime.
