Greatly-intensified heat to plague Da Nang over next 3 days
Some parts of Central Viet Nam from Da Nang to Quang Ngai Province will be hit by SCORCHING hot temperatures in the 3 coming days with the mercury remaining as averagely high as 38 degrees Celsius, causing residents to feel unpleasant throughout the entire day, and even at night, the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting warned.
The influence of the developing southern low pressure trough associated with a strong foehn wind in the southwest region, itself, is mainly blamed for the prolonged scorching weather, the regional forecasters said.
Some parts of the central regional may experience sunny weather in the daytime, whilst a few showers and thunderstorms are possible in the night time.
In Da Nang, thermometers are highly likely to remain highs of 35 and 36 degrees Celsius in the daytime over the next days. The blast of heat, exacerbated by high humidity and lack of wind, peaks from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm when the sun’s burning rays are the strongest.
When water changes from vapor to liquid, it will release an extra amount of heat into the air, which makes the atmosphere hotter and more unpleasant, said regional meteorologists.
Heavily affected by the ongoing heatwave, the provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri are predicted to brace for highs of 38 -40 degrees Celsius, even higher in some of their parts.
Since the beginning of the year, the average temperature across Viet Nam has been 1-2.5 degrees Celsius higher than normal, and the trend is forecast to last until October.
