First launched in 2012, the annual awards aim to honour outstanding doctors, nurses, and medical staff from the city-based public hospitals for their support efforts to the health care sector and their dedication to their patients.
In his remarks at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh highly commended the healthcare sector for its remarkable achievements during the 2015 - 2020 period.
The healthcare sector has taken drastic actions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in Da Nang, including novel coronavirus and diphtheria. Also, the city’s hospitals have received and treated diphtheria-affected patients from neighbouring localities.
In addition, the Da Nang Department of Health has implemented a project to develop the 3 district-level medical centres in Hai Chau, Cam Le, and Hoa Vang into the so-called “satellite hospitals” for the Da Nang General Hospital. The intention is to reduce the current patient overload at the Da Nang General Hospital, and enhance the quality of healthcare services at these medical centres as well.
Vice Chairman Chinh noted the above results were mainly attributed to the high level of consensus between leaders of the healthcare sector and medical workers.
Mr Chinh took the opportunity to urge the Da Nang health workers to continue their efforts to uphold their achievements and enhance their professional skills and morality in order to fulfil their assigned tasks.
“In the coming time, the healthcare sector should focus on preventing and controlling epidemics, fulfilling health and population-related tasks under the Vietnamese national target programme, enhancing the quality of healthcare services, and promoting the IT application into management activities” Mr Chinh said.
Also at the event, two individuals were honoured with Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister in recognition of their dedication and commitment to the local healthcare sector.
Three groups were awarded emulation flags from Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, whilst 13 individuals received the title of ‘Municipal Emulation Soldier’ from Chairman Tho.
Besides, a total of 195 groups and individuals received Certificates of Merit from Director of the municipal Department of Health Ngo Thi Kim Yen in recognition of their active involvement in the department’s patriotic emulation movement during the 2015-2020 period.
