Viet Nam records one new imported Covid-19 case on July 17 evening

One new imported cases of Covid-19 were reported in Viet Nam on Friday, raising the total to 382, according to figures released by Viet Nam's National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control at 6pm on 17 July.

The 382nd patient is a 64-year-old Russian expert who landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on 11 July.

After moving to a quarantine area in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, he tested negative for the virus on 13 July. Two days later, he was sent to Le Loi Hospital in Vung Tau city after showing symptoms of fever and sore throat. Taking the second test there, he was found to be positive for the virus.

The country has gone 93 days without a domestically transmitted infection.

Among the confirmed cases, 242 were overseas arrivals, and they were quarantined on arrival.

According to the committee's treatment subcommittee, 357 Covid-19 patients have fully recovered or 93.5 percent as of 6am on 18 July. No fatalities have been recorded.

The remaining 25 patients are being treated in health facilities in stable condition, with five tested negative once and four at least twice.

There are currently 10,123 people under quarantine nationwide: 78 at hospitals, 9,613 in designated  quarantine facilities and 442 at home.
