More support for front line staff and those affected by Covid-19 in Da Nang

Chairwoman of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Dang Thi Kim Lien on Wednesday visited Le Son Nam Village in Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District, which is placed under lockdown for 14 days as a preventive measure against the coronavirus pandemic in order to distribute essential supplies to the villagers. 

Chairwoman Lien gave spiritual encouragement to the villagers, and encourage them to strictly follow infection prevention and control measures during the lockdown.

On behalf of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee, Mrs Lien distribute 4,800 cloth face masks, 704 bottles of hand sanitizer, 10 tonnes of rice, 50 boxes of instant noodles, 50 boxes of milk and 50 boxes of cakes, plus other essential items, to the villagers.

The essential supplies were donated by generous individuals, organisations and businesses across Da Nang.

The Le Son Nam Village, with a population of 1,600 people, has been placed under a lockdown for 14 days since 6pm on 2 August after some new Covid-19 cases were detected in the village. 

Also on the same day, Da Nang Department of Home Affairs Deputy Director Le Phu Nguyen distributed  500 surgical masks and 30 bottles of hand sanitizer to war veterans in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Phong Commune who are joining the frontline in the city's fight against Covid-19.

The authorities of Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Ninh Commune distributed 40 gifts, worth 400,000 VND each, to local people on lockdown.

The Ward Veterans’ Association of Son Tra District distributed 23 gifts, each consisting of 25kg of rice, for its disadvantaged members to help them overcome difficulties presented by the coronavirus pandemic.

Also on Wednesday, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations (DAFO) donated 500 ‘Made-in-Viet Nam’ Covid-19 test kits and 7,200 cloth and surgical masks to the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (CDC).

The DANAMECO Medical Joint-Stock Corporation also presented 10,000 surgical masks to the Da Nang CDC.

Earlier on 4 August, the Hai Chau District chapter of the Da Nang Labour Union and the city-based Dat Xanh Mien Trung JSC donated 1,000 sets of protective suits against Covid-19, totalling 100 million VND, to staff in the Hai Chau District Medical Centre and the Thanh Binh Ward People’s Committee.
