Deputy Minister Hung hailed Da Nang for mapping out travel stimulus packages which demonstrate the city’s boldness and determination in boosting domestic tourism across Viet Nam.
In particular, Mr Hung highly recommended the implementation of such projects as building Da Nang into an international-level tourist hub or turning itself into a world-class relaxation centre.
In addition, the promotion of tourism associated with culture, especially Da Nang heritages for higher value should be taken into account.
The visiting national government official also noted, the digital economy and the application of latest technologies into boosting tourism are on upward trend. With regard to digital transformation, it is a need for Da Nang to make use of Big Data technologies to ensure tourists’ easier access to all tourism information they really need to grasp during their stay in the city.
As for a long-term strategy, Da Nang must make the debut of a new signature tourism product boasting attractiveness and high competitiveness every year, and continue to tap the great potential of waterway tourism and night-time economy.
Forecast for Da Nang Tourism sector issued by Da Nang Tourism Department shows that the tourism sector could generate an estimated 10,788 billion VND to Da Nang’s economy in 2020, down by 65.1% against last year, as a result of Covid-19 crisis.
By late this year, Da Nang is likely to have suffered about 26,000 billion VND worth of tourism revenue losses. Of this, 659 billion VND could be recorded in travel agencies, about 4,800 billion VND in serviced accommodation establishments, about 518 billion VND in tourist transport service providers, and the remainder from tourist attractions.
