Da Nang's acts to end violence against women and girls
The Da Nang Women's Union recently partnered with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) to organise the ‘Orange Da Nang - Light up and Take actions’ programme for creating a safe city free of violence against women and girls.

President of the Viet Nam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga and Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet made their attendance at the event.
In her speech delivered at the event, President of the Da Nang Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong remarked Da Nang government has issued many guidelines and policies on encouraging the community to join the effort to stop violence against women and girls over recent years.
All government department and agencies, organisations and individuals across Da Nang have brought into full play their responsibilities in promoting gender equality, and tackling violence against women and girls.

During the programme, as many as 500 women in total who were members of the Da Nang Women's Union and its chapters performed a flashmob at a public park near the eastern side of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge in a bid to appeal for the public to end gender inequality.
Also at the event, Deputy Secretary Triet launched the National Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence Prevention.
Mr Triet urged relevant local agencies to join the effort with Da Nang Women's Union to develop an action plan to create a safe city free of violence against women and girls, hereby contributing to developing Da Nang into a more prosperous, peaceful, civilized, modern and liveable city in the future.
