Da Nang has reported 85th consecutive day with no community transmission of Covid-19 but the local authorities have still advised the public across Da Nang to keep essential proactive measures in place as a move to avoid another wave of this deadly virus, especially amidst the cold weather is prevailing here.

Of special note, the public habits of wearing face coverings, hand washing regularly with either soaps or alcohol hand rubs, and keeping a safe distance with others must be fully practiced as social norms.

According to Director of the municipal Department of Health Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Da Nang has imposed mandatory quarantine on all Vietnamese returnees from abroad following the national government’s guidelines. Over recent days, hundreds of repatriated citizens from the U.S.-the world’s biggest Covid-19 hotspot- arrived in Da Nang.

Amongst them were those who are under 18, seniors, ill persons, and students who completed their courses but lacked accommodation due to dormitory closures, and others with extremely difficult circumstances.

All passengers and crew members received medical check-ups on arrival in Da Nang, and they were sent to designated quarantine facilities in line with the national regulations. All passengers and flight crews had their swab and blood serum samples taken for coronavirus testing.

Till date, 19 accommodation establishments across the city with a combined total of about 500 rooms, have registered to serve as temporary quarantine sites for all arrivals from overseas to Da Nang with the quarantine fees charged, and the majority of them are located in Son Tra District.

Hotels used for temporary quarantine sites are asked to not serve other purposes, and these venues are required to ensure essential living conditions such as electricity, water, sanitation, bathroom, ventilation, as well as being safe and convenient for accessing.

Also, checkpoints, security teams and the warning sign “Authorized personnel only” are already set up. Unauthorised people are banned from entering these hotels. Besides, these venues have established their own disinfection point for means of transport at the hotel entrance. All vehicles entering and leaving the hotels were disinfected. In particular, hotel staff members have been intensively trained to serve the quarantined people.

Many hospitals and medical facilities across Da Nang are in full swing in taking appropriate measures to ensure the ultimate safety of their staff, patients and visitors in an attempt to adapt themselves to the new normal.

Plans for coping up with the potential resurgence of the deadly virus is being implemented in a strict manner at the Da Nang General Hospital, which became Da Nang's Covid-19 hotspot when the second wave of the coronavirus hit Da Nang late July.

All visitors to the hospital are required to queue for their body temperature measured and their epidemiological information declared.

In particular, the general emergency ward consists two separate rooms, with one receiving patients with suspicious symptoms.

Anyone who appears to show respiratory symptoms will be examined in a separate area offering sufficient medical services ranging from clinical checkups to diagnostic ultrasound tests.

With regard to passenger transportation by air, in-flight safety and preventive measures are rigorously enforced to protect the passengers’ health and prevent the spread of the disease.

All of the passengers are required to clean their hands and had their health checked before boarding, wear face masks, limit the intake of foods, and avoid spiting indiscriminately throughout the flight.
