Negative test result for Da Nang man in close contact with new Viet Nam positive case in community

A male native of Da Nang who has been in close contact with new Viet Nam positive case in the community in Ho Chi Minh City has tested negative for coronavirus, Director of the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control Ton That Thanh, announced on Tuesday morning.

The 37-year-old man, a tourist guide, is residing in Tan Chinh Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang.

From 17-25 November, the man stayed in an accommodation establishment on Ho Ba Kien Street in District 10, HCMC.

On 23 November evening, he visited a karaoke parlor with a group of his friends, including a 32-year-old Vietnamese teacher of English who was confirmed as Viet Nam’s coronavirus patient 1,347 on Monday.

At 6.10am on 26 November, he flew back to Da Nang from HCMC on the Bamboo Airways flight QH154, in seat 5C.

From 8am to 10am on 27 and 29 November, the man played badminton at 212 Ky Dong Street in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang.

Between 7pm and 8pm on 28 November, he went for a drink at the Be Thao Restaurant on Ho Tuong Street in Thanh Khe District.

At around 4pm on 29 November, he went to Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City, and met with a doctor who was working at the Intensive Care Unit of the Hoi An General Hospital.

On 30 November morning, he visited a coffee shop at 359 Hai Phong Street in Hai Chau District, and then returned home and did not go anywhere.

At 2pm on the same day, he was sent to the Thanh Khe District-based Medical Centre for a mandatory two-week quarantine following Vietnamese Ministry of Health’s guildlines.

Then, the man had his swab samples taken by staff of the Da NangCentre for Disease Control to test for the deadly virus. As a result, his test result came back negative.

Da Nang is tracking down close contacts of this man in order to place them into isolation at district-level medical facilities, and public hospitals in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus.
