Cold snap dominates many parts of Viet Nam during New Year breaks
“Severe cold weather conditions" triggered by an intense cold snap is remaining on its high intensity to sweep across the north and mid-central Viet Nam, including Da Nang, during New Year breaks, Viet Nam's National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) has warned.
From Saturday into Sunday, many parts of Da Nang are bracing for scattered showers at night and in the early morning, whilst some warm sunlight are seen at noon and sometimes in the afternoon.
In the coming days, Da Nang is predicted to see the mercury sharply go down to hover at from 17- 20 degrees Celsius in many of its parts.
Meanwhile, a vast stretch from Quang Binh to Thua Thien-Hue provinces is predicted to suffer chiller weather with the mercury plummeting considerably.
Worse still, Northern Viet Nam, especially the provinces of Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang and Lao Cai, will be the hardest hit. The average lows are projected to fall to only 7 - 10 degrees Celsius in many parts of these northen localities, even below zero degrees Celsius in some high mountain areas, leading to a high possibility of frost.
This unpleasant chilly weather pattern is anticipated to last for many days, showing no sign of subsiding.
This type of weather is not abnormal as the region enters the winter season. It is recommended that the public across Da Nang dress appropriately during the day and night as the range of temperatures can be significant.
