The indictment against the Chinese national was announced at the Tuesday trial at the Da Nang People’s Court, which caught a great deal of local public heed.
In September 2019, Wang Qing Lin entered Viet Nam illegally for work. In October 2019, the offender was fined 4 million VND by the Immigration Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security for the act of ‘crossing the national border without doing immigration procedures as prescribed’, and he was then deported back to China.
However, via the use of a number of social networking applications, the defendant managed to contact his compatriots, namely Xiao Hua and Da Pang, to make illegal entry to Viet Nam again.
In mid-November 2019, Wang Qing Lin illegally stayed at an unknown place of residence in Da Nang for about a week. Afterwards, from late December 2019 to mid-August 2020, with the help of Vietnamese residents, namely Nguyen Thi Yen and Le Thi Toan, both residing in Man Thai Ward, Son Tra District, Wang Qing Lin was taken to different locales for illegitimate stay in this district.
During his stay in the city, Wang Qing Lin was employed by Xiao Hua to use mobile phones, tablets and laptops to run an illegal stock exchange site in China, conducting virtual securities trading transactions, and earning a high amount of profits which was transferred to bank accounts in China.
On 15 August, 2020, Wang Qing Lin, along with two other Chinese persons, Li Jin Xi and Su Jin Shu, were residing in a house located on Nguyen Duc An Street, Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District when an unexpected police raid was conducted here.
The Chinese trio was arrested for having failed to register as temporary residents in the city in accordance with the Vietnamese regulations. In particular, Wang Qing Lin and Su Jin Shu did not hold any passports or visas at that time.
Having committed the aforementioned violations, Wang Qing Lin has been detained since 26 September up to now.
As for the Vietnamese duo, Nguyen Thi Yen and Le Thi Toan, they were prosecuted for ‘organising for foreigners to illegally enter VietNam.
Investigation is now underway on the remaining Chinese illegal immigrants.
