In his speech delivered at a Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations (DAFO)-hosted meeting on Thursday to review the people-to-people exchange activities in Da Nang last year, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh praised the organisation for its remarkable achievements over the past year.

He also asked DAFO to make greater efforts to intensify people-to-people exchange activities in the coming time in a bid to promote the beautiful images of the city to international friends. Heed should be paid to appeal for non-governmental organisations to actively engage in implementing more socio-economic development projects in the city in the time ahead.

In 2020, DAFO organised numerous people-to-people exchange activities in the city in a bid to boost the friendship and cooperation between the people of Da Nang and those of other countries around the world.

Most important of all, DAFO successfully sought aid from foreign non-governmental organisations for the implementation of numerous social welfare programmes across the city, benefiting hundreds of poor children, the disabled, the orphan and other vulnerable people citywide.

Also at the event, DAFO received an emulation flag from the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations in recognition of its leading role in implementing Viet Nam's people-to-people diplomacy in 2020.
