Over recent years, many poor families in Son Tra District, Da Nang, have benefited much from the ongoing World Vision International-funded Son Tra Urban Area Development Programme (UADP).

The programme has been carried out in Nai Hien Dong, Tho Quang and Man Thai wards where there are high numbers of poor families and vulnerable children since 2014.

In 2020, the programme brought benefits to 342 poor families in these wards.  In addition, financial aid was given to needy families with suitable means of livelihood in an effort to help them increase their incomes, and enhance their living conditions.

In particular, Dinh Thi Hong Xinh, 29, a resident of Nai Hien Dong Ward, was among the poor to receive livelihood support from the World Vision International organisation last year.

Xinh is running a small hair salon business in the ward, but most of her salon’s hairdressing equipment are out-of-date, resulting in low numbers of visitors and unstable income.

Xinh said happily that, last year, Xinh received in-kind donations of a new hair washing chair and a display glass cabinet from the World Vision International organisation to develop her business. Thanks to active assistance from the organisation, Xinh’s hair salon has been upgraded, and it looks more attractive to customers.

Funded by World Vision International, the programme aims to give a helping hand to families in very difficult circumstances to improve their living conditions, thereby significantly contributing to ensuring the effective implementation of Da Nang’s social welfare programmes.
