Under the cold spell, which has arrived in the mountainous northern provinces, localities from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai provinces, including Da Nang, are experiencing scattered showers and thunderstorms in some of their parts, along with nnorthwest breezes of level 3 offshore and levels 2 - 3 in inland areas.

A vast stretch from Quang Binh to Thua Thien-Hue provinces is suffering in a cold weather with the mercury plummeting considerably to as low as 19– 21 degrees Celsius, even chiller at 17– 19 degrees Celsius in their mountainous areas.

Additionally, localities from Da Nang to Quang Ngai are bracing for a bit higher mercury which is hovering at the lowest as 20 -22 degrees Celsius, and even colder at 18– 20 degrees Celsius in their high-altitude spots.

In particular, there is the possibility of level 6 gale winds, slightly rough seas and sea waves from 1 – 2 m high in waters off central regional areas from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang.

Tomorrow, 3 February, Da Nang is expected to see cloudy, some light scattered shower in some of its parts. The mercury will hover at 12– 27 degrees Celsius, says Viet Nam's National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting (NCHF).

From Thursday into Sunday, Da Nang is highly likely to see its mercury rise a bit to stand at between 22 - 31 degrees Celsius, with the cloudy, rainless pattern.

Meanwhile, amid higher temperatures, the ultraviolet index in the southern Vietnamese region has risen to extreme levels during a prolonged period of no rainfall and intense sun, posing health threats to people exposed to the sun.

The lowest temperature in the southern region is hovering at 21 - 24 degrees Celsius, whilst the highest of 31-34 degrees Celsius is recorded there.
