Nestled in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang, the Nam O Reef is planned to serve the Nam O community-based tourism project, which will be developed by the Vietnamese Trung Thuy Group (TTG). In order to ensure the safety of visitors in tandem with keeping the security and environmental sanitation, the Lien Chieu District authorities have issued regulations on the effective management of Nam O moss-covered rocks.

According to Mr Nguyen Huu Thiet, Lien Chieu District People's Committee Vice Chairman, these aforementioned regulations clearly stipulate a must-do for locals and visitors alike to say ‘no’ prohibited acts harming the environment and natural settings, as well as set responsibilities relevant local agencies must take.

As observed by DA NANG Newspaper reporters, during the peak of the moss-growing season, the Nam O reef usually attracts a large number of locals and visitors thanks to its picturesque beauty of unspoiled nature.

Encouragingly, such concerning phenomena as visitors sitting on canvas for enjoying light snacks and then littering, itinerant vendors harassing visitors or spontaneous parking at the Nam O site donot occur any more.

Also, warnings against swimming in areas boasting dangerous rocky outcrops and the use of equipment emitting loud sounds for relaxation purpose have been released by the district authorities.

In particular, the Thanh Khe administration has already also requested Trung Thuy- Da Nang Joint Stock Company to join hands in maintaining environmental sanitation and security at locales which have been planned for the Nam O community-based tourism project which is promised a facelift for the namesake coastal village.

The common goal is to create a new tourism product which is highly attractive both dwellers and tourists, thereby contributing to leveraging local socio-economic development.

While moss can make anything they cover look old or dirty, local youngsters find a set of moss-covered rocks in Nam O a great background for their Instagram photos.

The rocks impressively coated with the most eye-catching green moss in early morning when the tide falls has emerged as a new ‘check-in point’ for both locals and tourists, looking like a fresh meadow emerging from the beach.
