Negative test results for over 13,600 people in An Don IP and its surroundings, Da Nang Airport

Tests on 2,2000 personnel working at the Da Nang Airport, and 6,970 workers in the An Don Industrial Park (IP) located in An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District, along with 4,457 people in surrounding areas of this IP have come back negative for COVID-19, Da Nang Centre for Disease Control and Preventation (CDC) Director Ton That Dam confirmed on Thursday morning.

Earlier on May 11 and May 12, local medical workers took took a combined throat and noise swab of these people to test for the virus.

The move came amid a surge in case in the city and the An Don IP linked to recently-confirmed case.

Rapid coronavirus screening tests for all Da Nang Aiport staff members can spot those who are at greatest risk of spreading the disease, thereby helping the aiport authorities manage risks from coronavirus and provide safer workplaces and services for workers and passengers.

Currently, the city is scaling up its COVID-19 testing programme with a focus on speeding up the collection of swab samples of people working and living in high-risk settings.
