Our observations on Sunday morning indicated that most of Da Nang people were seen strictly practising the city’s odd and even date entry restrictions at local wet markets such as Dong Da, Con, Moi, and Cam Le.

The Dong Da Market Management Board said security personnel had been arranged to staff at 3 entry gates since 6am today, May 9, to monitor the shoppers’ practice of the city’s COVID-19 control measures.

Drawing on its experience on COVID-19 response in the previous pandemic waves, the Dong Da Market Management Board promptly put in place strictest measures at this place in line with the guidelines for infection prevention and control issued by the Da Nang government in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus, and protect its staff and market-goers.

The focus has been on using visuals, such as banners and posters to be placed in front of this market to raise awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic among shoppers. In addition, hand sanitizer bottles are available at entry gates in a bid to encourage stall holders and shoppers here to clean their hands to prevent the coronavirus infection.

We observed on Sunday morning that the odd and even date entry restriction has been effective in significantly reducing the number of shoppers in this market.

We have observed that the majority of stores selling non-essential goods such as clothes, footwear, cosmestics, and seated drink and food service at many traditional markets across the city have closed.

Observations from our reporters on Sunday morning indicated that patrons were seen adhering to the city’s entry restrictions at Cam Le Market. All of them displayed a willingness to obey the city’s COVID-19 rules in their efforts to joining the city’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Photo: KHANH HOA.
Patrons must add their personal information on their cards at the entry points at all traditional markets. Otherwise, they will be denied entry. Individuals will be allowed to enter a certain wet market only on odd or even days based on dates written on their entry cards. We have also observed that Da Nang people are familiar with the most important preventive measures against COVID-19 that the Da Nang government has put in place in the city since the previous pandemic waves. Hence, all of them said that the practice of the recommended preventive measures does not significantly affect their daily routines.

Mrs Nguyen Thi Hoa, a resident of Phuong Thach Ward, Hai Chau District showed her support for the city’s strict measures to control COVID-19 with the aim of ensuring the greatest possible protection for local residents.

On Saturday evening, the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade urged the Hai Chau District authorities to send their personnel to all wet markets in the locality to handle violations of the city’s COVID-19 rules outside these places.

Police will join forces with the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market Management Board to tighten preventive measures that have been put in place at this wholesale market, the largest of its kind in Da Nang, in order to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus here. They will carry out their tasks daily from 2am to 5am.

Residents living near the Han Market are advised to strictly follow the municipal government guidance on infection prevention and control.
