Scorching heat to blanket Da Nang till June 21
A new heat wave is expected to hit localities in Northern and Central Viet Nam with the highest temperature ranging from 35 - 38 degrees Celsius tomorrow, even hotter in their western mountainous areas, the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said in its latest bulletin.
The unpleasant weather pattern, which is predicted to last for one week till June 21, is caused by the influence of the developing southern low pressure trough associated with a strong foehn wind in the southwest region, soaring heatwave conditions.
The stifling heat forces local residents to sweat profusely and struggle to relieve its undesirable effects.
The mercury is likely to reach above 35 degrees Celsius from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
The lowest humidity is forecaste to be measured at 45 - 60%.
On June 19, Northern and Central Viet Nam are expected to see the mercury rise, causing residents to feel unpleasant throughout the entire day, and even at night.
Da Nang, from June 15 to 18, is projected to witness cloudy, sunny days with the highs of 35 - 36 degrees Celsius, and the temperature remaining as high as 37 - 38 degrees Celsius from June 19 and 24.
Local residents must struggle to relieve its undesirable effects to ensure their health whilst businesses are making many appropriate adjustments in their operations in a bid to keep production on stream in face of the harsh weather.
Many residents are advised against going outside if not necessary. Road users are seen cover almost entirely from head to toe in combinations of helmets, sunglasses, facemasks, long sleeves, gloves, long pants, and socks, and a “covering dress”, a garment akin to a kitchen apron that covers women’s legs to limit their exposure to burning sunshine.
