Da Nang ramps up tracing of COVID-19 contacts after one new case detected in Da Son Slaughterhouse

The Lien Chieu District authorities said on Friday morning, one new case of COVID-19 had been detected in the Da Son Slaughterhouse located in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward.

The new positive case was confirmed in the owner of a slaughtering unit in this venue, and he is linked to two previous cases here. Notably, there are more than 800 people who have been in close contact with the new infected man.

Previously, a driver and a worker in the Da Son Slaughterhouse had tested positive for the virus.

The new infected man was placed in managed isolation on Thursday after the two previous cases had been detected.  

Besides, 658 people in the Da Son Slaughterhouse already got tested for COVID-19 and their test results came back negative.

Lien Chieu District is working with the health agency and relevant units to ramp up their efforts to track down all the close contacts of the new infected man.  

The slaughterhouse remains open with strictest health measures in place after it has been professionally cleaned and disinfected for the prevention of COVID-19, and all people in this venue tested negative for the virus. In addition, all contacts of the two previous confirmed cases have been put under quarantine in designated facilities.

All people working in this venue and its visitors are required to stick to the 5K recommendations of the Ministry of Health to keep themselves and others safe. In addition, visitors must show proof of a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of the test on entry into the slaughterhouse.

Security guards staffing at the entrance gate of the slaughterhouse are increasing checks on drivers of vehicles and visitors coming, and those with a negative test result are only allowed entry into this venue.

Warning signs for COVID-19 are placed at the entrance gate of the slaughterhouse, and disinfectant sprays are carrying out daily in this venue for the prevention of COVID-19.

The Hoa Khanh Nam Ward authorities are urging people who have been to the Da Son slaughterhouse from July 16 -21 to immediately call the Hoa Khanh Nam Ward Medical Station at 02363739441 or check with their nearest medical facilities for health advice and requirements.
