Mass testing for COVID-19 rolled out in Son Tra District

Tests on all fishermen, traders, workers in the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf and Seafood Wholesale Market for their swab samples taken on July 18 have came back negative for SARS-CoV-2 following the identification of a COVID-19 case visiting this venue.

As part of the city-wide household representative sample strategy, a mass testing campaign, the so-called “One door-one test” (ODOT), which utilised PCR assays to test one family member (age>18) from each of the about 11,000 households families across Son Tra District is rolling out.

Healthcare workers in on Sunday (July 18) took a combined throat and nasal swab of 460 people who are the primary close contacts of confirmed cases, those with suspected COVID-19 symptoms and returnees from virus affected areas for COVID-19 testing, of whom, 5 were found positive and the remainder tested negative for the virus, Son Tra District authorities announced on Monday morning.

In addition, 4,072 people who are fishermen, traders, workers in the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf and Seafood Wholesale Market had their swab samples taken on July 18 to test for virus after this venue had been possibly exposed to a COVID-19 case. All of them have tested negative for SARS-CoV. -2.

Tests on household representative from each of the 2,461 families in An Hai Bac Ward for their swab samples taken on July 18 have came back negative for  the virus.

On Monday morning (July 19), medical workers conducted COVID-19 testing for household representatives in Tho Quang Ward and An Hai Dong ward at testing sites in the Nguyen Tri Phuong Primary School and the Nguyen Van Cu Secondary School respectively.

This afternoon, household representatives in An Hai Tay Ward and Man Thai Ward will get tested for the virus at testing sites in the Cao Thang Secondary School and Quang Trung Primary School respectively.

On Tuesday morning (July 20), sampling of COVID-19 will be carried out for household representatives in Nai Hien Dong Ward and Phuoc My Ward at testing sites in Pham Ngoc Thach Secondary School and Ngo May Primary School respectively.
