Da Nang logged 66 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, August 2, of which 48 cases were put  under mandatory quarantine at centralised facilities, 4 were already-blockaded areas and 14 were spotted in the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control freshly announced.

As for the cases detected in the community, 6 symptomatic cases were detected during their in-person visits to medical establishments for checkups, 6 were documented from the so-called ‘one door, one test’ campaign and the 2 remaining ones were reported in high-risk infection areas. All of the 14 cases found in the community were confirmed being linked to the highly transmissible infection chain at Son Tra District- based Tho Quang fishing wharf.

It is highly concerning that, 53 out of the total 66 cases logged on Monday were linked to the infection chain at the Tho Quang fishing wharf.

Based on the latest number of infections, Son Tra district is still a coronavirus hotspot in Da Nang , recording 34 cases on Monday, with 15 cases in Nai Hien Dong Ward, 8 in Tho Quang Ward, 8 in An Hai Bac Ward, whilst Phuoc My, Man Thai and An Hai Tay wards with one each.

The total infections recorded in the city have climbed to 830 since July 10 when a local man in Cam Le District’s Hoa Xuan Ward was confirmed contracting the virus after many days of no community transmissions in the city.
