The extreme heat warning issued by the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting has been extended to next week as much of Central Viet Nam continues to swelter under high temperatures over the next five days.

The high temperatures today, August 7, continue through parts from Quang Binh to Quang Tri provinces due to the effects of the developing southern low pressure trough associated with the southwest monsoon. Sweltering temperatures will see Quang Binh and Quang Tri bake at 35-37 degrees Celsius. Parts from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Ngai provinces, including Da Nang, are named the hottest spots in Central Viet Nam, with high temperatures hovering at 37- 39 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is likely to touch over the 39-degrees Celsius mark in some places.

Extreme heat conditions are expected to persist over parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, over the next 2 days.

The maximum temperature is likely to touch over the 39-degrees Celsius mark in some places. Temperatures of 36 and 39 degree Celsius will be common across the region.

Hot weather will linger in the region, most of the following 3-5 days with the maximum temperature soaring to over 39 degrees Celsius in some places while temperatures of 36 and 39 degrees Celsius will be common in most parts of the Central Viet Nam.
