Amid the complex developments of COVID-19 in localities in Central Viet Nam, especially in Phuoc Son and Nam Giang districts in Quang Nam Province, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh on Monday afternoon heightened its monitoring of people coming from other parts of the country at entry points.

During his meeting with members of the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Monday, Chairman Chinh highlighted huge efforts authorities at local level and relevant agencies have made to help the city tackle COVID-19 and bring the outbreak under control.

The Da Nang government leader urged authorities at local level to keep closer watch on home quarantine. He also highlighted the important role of police officers and COVID-19 community taskforce in checking and detecting arrivals and returnees from affected areas without declaring their health status.

Mr Chinh said the number of people who have entered malls, restaurants, cafes, and other public places has been lower than expected after removing further restrictions on October 16 because of the wet weather and the fear of returning to public places due to the virus.

He also warned that many people ignored COVID-19 safety measures in public places. Authorities at local level were tasked to set up inspection teams to make sure their local residents are following the recommended COVID-19 precautions or face tough penalties for intentional violations of COVID-19 rules.

Chairman Chinh directed authorities at local level and health agency to take all necessary measures to ensure that all over-18s in their local areas receive at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in order to help the city realize its target of vaccinating the entire adult as soon as possible.

Inspection teams have been set up in local districts to enhance the monitoring of compliance with health and safety protocols among business and eating and drinking establishments as well as take action against breaches of COVID-19 guidelines.
