Inspectors from the municipal Department of Transport have worked with police officers and officials from health agency and authorities at local level to conduct over 200 COVID-19 compliance checks of drivers of vehicles entering the city from September 9 – 22 in line with the new guidance.  As a result, a fine of VND 5-10 million has been imposed on each of 4 drivers for breaches of the city’s guidelines for the prevention and control of COVID-19.

In addition, inspectors have issued formal warnings to dozens of drivers for COVID-19 breaches as well as enforced mandatory quarantine for many others as they stayed in the city beyond the authorized period.

The Da Nang branch of Viet Nam Industrial Gas Joint Stock Company located on Road 5A, Hoa Cam Industrial Park, Hoa Tho Tay Ward, Cam Le District has been found violating the COVID-19 prevention and public health measures. A car driver employed by this company left the workplace for home in Lien Chieu District while his company was adopting the stay-at-work solution. He is among approved drivers to travel under green lane to carry goods into Da Nang, and all of them are required to stay in managed isolation. This driver has been forced to follow mandatory quarantine requirements.

The authorities in Cam Le District have worked closely with the Authority of Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks to impose strict punishment on this company and its driver for non-compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols.

Late at night on August 27, a 26 year-old driver of a truck carrying goods from Thua Thien Hue Province who entered Da Nang under green lane were discovered using fake travel permit by the patrol team in Hoa Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District.

The Da Nang taskforces continue strengthening COVID-19 surveillance on drivers of vehicles entering the city and owners of businesses where these people are working for or arrive in. The focus is on conducting COVID-19 compliance checks on them, and taking enforcement action against breaches of mandatory quarantine and health declaration requirements.

The municipal Department of Transport is calling for toughest punishments for providing false and misleading information about health and registered vehicles.
