Da Nang COVID-19 daily tally rises to 34 on Nov. 12, including 6 found in community

Da Nang logged 34 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, November 12, six of which were found in the community, 11 in the city-designated centralised quarantine facilities, 13 during mandatory at-home quarantine, and two each at locked-down residential sites and the city’s gateway checkpoints,  the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Below is need-to-know information on the six community-based cases:

The first community patient logged on Friday was resident dwelling at K129 Tieu La,Hoa Cuong Bac Ward, Hai Chau District. This patient had previously returned to Da Nang from the southern provinces of Phu Yen and Binh Dinh. He went to the Da Nang-based Hospital 199 under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 there.

The second was dweller at K626, September 2 Street, Hoa Cuong Nam Ward, Hai Chau District. This person’s infection with the virus was detected via the mass testing applied to food and beverage service providers in An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District.

The third is a native of Hanh Thien Commune, Nghia Hanh District, Quang Ngai Province. She went to the Da Nang Oncology Hospital for examination and treatment, and was detected to contract the virus via a mandatory rapid antigen test.

The remaining three community-acquired  cases were detected in Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District through the ongoing mass testing applied to all local household representatives, also known as ‘One door- One test’ campaign. These patients stayed in residential group No. 32, the Blue House apartment building based in residential group No. 76, and on Le Chan Street, respectively.

The cases recorded on Friday were related to seven infection chains and all of them are assessed to be at a high risk of further spreading.

There are currently 59 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 613 households with a combined total of 2,518 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,287 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 17 centralised facilities.

Da Nang has recorded 4,924 positive COVID-19 cases since July 10 when the current COVID-19 wave started here.
