Da Nang's women actively join fight against COVID-19
When coronavirus pandemic broke out in Da Nang, the Da Nang Women's Union and its chapters across the city were active in joining hands with the municipal government in the battle against COVID-19.

60-year-old Nguyen Thi Thuy, a member of Chon Tam1B4 chapter of the municipal Women's Union in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, said “Due to the complicated developments of the pandemic, every citizen citywide should act as a ‘frontline soldier’ in the ongoing battle against COVID-19. Despite my old age, my health was still good, so I got involved in staffing at checkpoints set up on locked down areas in my locality".
Head of the Women’s Union chapter of Thach Bo Village in Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District Nguyen Thi Yen pointed out some difficulties when staffing at checkpoints, including being on duty for around 12 hours per shift, and eating and sleeping right at checkpoints. However, she and other members were still happy at contributing a little effort to the city’s anti-pandemic battle.
Each person has a different situation, but most of the Women's Union members at all levels are busy with family. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, they enthusiastically joined efforts with the municipal government to prevent the disease from spreading to the community.

Over the past 2 years, tens of thousands of turns of members of the Women’s Union and its chapters citywide have been actively involved in the city's anti-pandemic activities as well as the programmes of the 'Three-on-the-spot', ‘Do shipping for locked-down residents’, 'No one is left behind', and ‘Ten thousand gifts for needy people’.
Up to now, the municipal Women's Union and its chapters at all levels have mobilized 1,562 officials and members to support COVID-19 testing teams, 1,168 to staff at checkpoints in residential areas, 757 to cook meals for taskforce at COVID-19 checkpoints, 2,031 to timely deliver gifts to needy families, and 1,428 to supervise the distribution of gifts and grasp the living situation of locals.
It can be affirmed that, women citywide have become a reliable bridge to ensure the stable lives of local residents during the city’s social distancing period.
When talking about these very impressive figures, Chairman of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang highly lauded great efforts made by members of the municipal Women’s Union in providing timely support for those in need during the city’s fight against the coronavirus.
