66 community infections of COVID-19 among Da Nang daily count of 188 on Dec.11

Da Nang logged 188 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, December 11, 66 of which were found in the community, two logged at centralised quarantine facilities, 108 during at-home quarantine, 12 in locked-down residential sites, and the remaining one from other Vietnamese locality, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Below is need-to-know information on the 66 community-acquired cases:

Fourteen employees of the Matrix company, and three traders in the Hoa Khanh and Phu Loc markets and the Nguyen Kim Supermarket, respectively, were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.

A returnee from the central province of Quang Ngai tested positive for the virus at a local medical station.

There were nine local residents found to be infected with the virus via their rapid antigen tests conducted by themselves.

A resident in Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District was confirmed to have COVID-19 through mass testing rollouts applied to local household representatives, known as the ‘One door- one test’ campaign.

The remaining community-acquired patients were local dwellers who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide during their visits there for COVID-19 tests or regular medical checkups.

In particular, 134 out of the 188 cases were likely to spread to the community, local experts warned.

During the day, there were several high-risk infection chains: Matrix Company with 27 cases, Thuan Phuoc Company with 19, Vo Truong Toan Street in An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District with eight, and the Thanh Vinh and Hoa Khanh markets.

Amongst the local districts, Lien Chieu logged the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Saturday with 48, followed by Son Tra with 47, Hoa Vang with 39, Thanh Khe with 25, Cam Le with nine, Hai Chau with six and Ngu Hanh Son with three.

There were nine patients who were returnees from other cities and provinces.

Also on the same day, a combined total of 27, 088local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 25,954 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 966, 311 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 881,925 have got two doses against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 260 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,513 households with a combined total of 9,786 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 512 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

Da Nang’s total tally has risen to 2,571since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 138 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide
