89 community infections of COVID-19 among Da Nang daily count of 198 on Dec.10

Da Nang logged 198 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, December 10, 89 of which  were found in the community, 81 during at-home quarantine and the remaining 28 in locked-down residential sites, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Below is need-to-know information on the 89 community-acquired cases:

There were 34 infections detected via ongoing mass testing for COVID-19 applied to local household representatives, known as the ‘One door- one test’ campaign in the wards of Hoa Khanh Bac and Hoa Minh in Lien Chieu District and the wards of Man Thai and Nai Hien Dong in Son Tra District.

Also, a total of five traders operating at the markets of Nai Hien Dong, Thanh Vinh and Hoa Khanh were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.

Three cases were found via mass testing rollouts applied to the staff of restaurants and eateries in Nai Hien Dong Ward in Son Tra District, Hoa Thuan Tay Ward in Hai Chau District and Vinh Trung Ward in Thanh Khe District.

In addition, six employees of the Matrix Company and a worker at the TTTI Company contracted the virus.
There were four residents found to be infected with the virus via their rapid antigen tests conducted by themselves.

The remaining community-acquired patients tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide.

In particular, 175 out of the 198 cases were likely to spread to the community, local experts warned.

During the day, there were several high-risk infection chains: Matrix Company with six cases, Thuan Phuoc Company with three, Vo Truong Toan Street in An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District with 23, and the Thanh Vinh and Hoa Khanh markets with four.

Amongst the local districts, Lien Chieu logged the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Friday with 86, followed by Son Tra with 57, Hoa Vang with 17, Cam Le with 16, Hai Chau with eight, Thanh Khe with six and Ngu Hanh Son with two. There were six patients who were returnees from other cities and provinces.

Also on the same day, a combined total of 39,812 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 37,269 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 966,311 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 881,925 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 242 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,513 households with a combined total of 9,715 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 484 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.
Da Nang’s total tally has risen to 2,385 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 128 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide
