Da Nang daily caseload of COVID-19 climbs to 99 on Dec.1, including 30 logged in community

Da Nang saw its daily caseload of COVID-19 inch to 99 on Wednesday, December 1, of which 30 were found in the community, 12 in local centralised quarantine facilities, 37 during at-home quarantine, 18 in locked-down residential sites and the remaining two at quarantine checkpoints set up at the city’s gateways, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said in its latest bulletin.

In detail, of the 30 community-acquired cases, four were detected from high-risk areas in Thanh Khe Dong Ward, Thanh Khe District, two were returnees from HCM City, one was a member of the community-based COVID-19 team and another one was a security guard at the Da Nang Family Hospital.

The remaining 22 community-acquired patients tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide following their displaying of some suspicious symptoms. In detail, four cases were found at the Lien Chieu District Medical Centre, whilst two each at the Medical Station of My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Hoa Khanh Clinic, the Da Nang C Hospital, Thien Nhan Clinic, An Duc Clinic and the Hai Chau District Medical Centre and one each at the Da Nang Hospital, Hospital 199 under the Ministry of Public Security, Hoan My Hospital, the Family Hospital, Y Duc Medical Clinic and Tam Tri Hospital.

The 99 cases recorded on Wednesday were related to 35 highly contiguous infection chains. In particular, 72 out of the 99 cases were likely to spread to the community.

As for districts, Lien Chieu recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Wednesday with 44, followed by Thanh Khe with 18, Son Tra with 14, Hai Chau with eight, Cam Le with seven, Ngu Hanh Son and Hoa Vang with three each.

There are currently 181 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,366 households with a combined total of 8,651 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,216 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 17 centralised facilities.

Also on Thursday, a combined total of 15,977 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 14,457 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Up to now, 1,648,546 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 964, 545 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 758,638 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

Da Nang has recorded 1,189 infections, 116 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide, since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community-based cases.
