Da Nang logs 43 community infections among 78 new cases of COVID-19 on Dec.5

Da Nang recorded 43 community infections among the COVID-19 daily tally of 78 on Sunday, December 5, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Amongst the 43 community-acquired patients, there were four employees working at the Lesgant Company, six workers at the Ba Na-based camp, seven infections found via rapid antigen test, one medical worker at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital and a trader at the Nam O Market in Lien Chieu District.

The remaining 24 community-acquired patients tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide following their displaying of some suspicious symptoms. In detail, five cases were found at the Da Nang-based Hospital 199 under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, four at the Lien Chieu District Medical Centre, three at the Hoa Khanh Clinic, two each at the Y Duc and Thien Nhan clinics, and one each at the Hospital of Transport, An Duc Clinic, the Son Tra and Thanh Khe district-level medical centres, the Phuc Khang Medical Centre, the Tam Tri Hospital, the Da Nang General Hospital and the Vinmec Hospital.

Apart from the detection of community infections, the city logged 35 cases found under managed isolation. In detail, there were five in centralised quarantine facilities, 23 during at-home quarantine and the remaining seven in locked-down residential areas

In particular, 61 out of the 78 cases were likely to spread to the community, local experts warned.

Amongst the local districts, Lien Chieu recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Sunday with 33, followed by Son Tra with nine cases, Thanh Khe and Hoa Vang with eight each, Hai Chau with seven, Cam Le with six and Ngu Hanh Son with one.

There are currently 209 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,529 households with a combined total of 9,383 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 970 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.
Also on Sunday, a combined total of 12,679  local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 11,777  of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Up to now, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 965,761  have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 860,398 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

Da Nang has recorded 1,572  infections, 143 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide, since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community-based cases.
