Da Nang's COVID-19 daily count stands at 82 on Dec.2, including 31 community infections

Da Nang logged 82 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, December 2, of which 31 were found in the community, six in local centralised quarantine facilities, 35 during at-home quarantine and the remaining ten in locked-down residential sites, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

In detail, amongst the 31 community-acquired patients, there were three small traders in Lien Chieu District-based Hoa Khanh Market, a returnee from HCM City, a resident in a high-risk area in Thanh Khe Dong Ward, Thanh Khe District, a member in a  COVID-19 prevention and control team in Thanh Khe Dong Ward, a patient in the Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital and a case detected through periodic sampling.

The remaining 23 community-acquired patients tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide following their displaying of some suspicious symptoms. In detail, five cases were found at Da Nang-based Hospital 199 under the Ministry of Public Security, four at the Family Da Nang Hospital, three each at the An Duc Clinic and Lien Chieu District Medical Centre, two each at the Y Duc Medical Clinic, the Hoa Khanh Clinic and the Tam Tri Hospital, and one each at the Medical Station of My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District and the Hoan My Hospital.

The 82 cases recorded Thursday were related to 22 highly contiguous infection chains. In particular, 65 out of the 82 cases were likely to spread to the community.

As for districts, Lien Chieu recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Thursday with 39, followed by Son Tra with 14, Hai Chau with 12, Thanh Khe with seven, Cam Le with four and Ngu Hanh Son with two.

There are currently 190 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1, 442 households with a combined total of 8,958 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,357 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 17 centralised facilities.

Also on Thursday, a combined total of 12, 642 l local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 11,121 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Up to now, 1,750,736 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 964,708 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 786,028 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

Da Nang has recorded 1,271 infections, 125 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide, since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community-based cases.
