Da Nang's daily COVID-19 counts go up to 119 on Dec.3, including 34 community-acquired cases

Da Nang recorded 3-digit daily counts of COVID-19 with 119 new infections on Friday, December 3, of which 34 were found in the community, nine in local centralised quarantine facilities, 70 during at-home quarantine and the remaining six in locked-down residential sites, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

In detail, amongst the 34 community-acquired patients, there were two dwellers living in high-risk areas in residential group 5 in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, one  resident in a high-risk neighbourhood in residential group No.8 in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, one stall holder at the Hoa Khanh Market, Lien Chieu District, two employees from the Thuan Phuoc company, one man who intended to join military service in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District and one subject being put in temporary custody.

The remaining 26 community-acquired patients tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide following their displaying of some suspicious symptoms. In detail, seven cases were logged at the Lien Chieu District Medical Centre, five at the Son Tra District Medical Centre, four each at the Da Nang-based 199 Hospital under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Y Duc Medical Clinic, three at the Family Hospital and one each at the Phuc Khang General Clinic, the Tam Tri General Hospital and the An Duc Clinic.

The 119 cases recorded on Friday were related to 30 highly contiguous infection chains.

In particular, 99 out of the 119 cases were likely to spread to the community.

As for districts, Lien Chieu recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Friday with 59, followed by Son Tra with 26, Thanh Khe with 12, Hai chau with ten, Cam Le with five, Ngu Hanh Son with three and Hoa Vang with two.

There are currently 193 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,452 households with a combined total of 8,992 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,324 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

Also on Friday, a combined total of 14,594 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 13,452 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Up to now, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 964,830 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 811,331 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

Da Nang has recorded 1,390 infections, 129 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide, since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community-based cases.
