Secretary Quang said that the COVID-19 pandemic remains complicated across the city, especially Lien Chieu District being at very high risk for the disease. Many COVID-9 confirmed cases in the district were likely to spread to others, focusing on such high-risk places as markets, industrial parks, and residential areas. Also, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases is increasing faster than the previous waves.

The main reason was thought to be people's ignoring the 5K recommendations of the Ministry of Health. Also, the city has not no longer implemented tough measures since the city deployed the ‘Safe and flexible adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic' policy.

The city Party chief Quang suggested that the Party Committee, People's Committee, and the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Lien Chieu District must determine how to control and curb the spread of the virus as their important goal in the coming time. He also stressed the necessity for the locality to evaluate and analyze in-depth the current pandemic level, thereby coming up with appropriate measures and targets.

In the immediate future, more effective and timely measures should be taken to stamp out existing outbreaks and prevent the spread of the disease to a large extent. In particular, focus should be on managing the blockade areas to screen all COVID-19 confirmed patients, and facilitating local residents to be vaccinated against COVID-19, especially those living at high risk areas.

Importance should be paid to raising public awareness about the pandemic, and imposing strictest penalties for non-compliance with COVID-19 rules.

Secretary Quang also gave a nod to the establishment of medical stations in industrial parks in an effort to control the pandemic timely and effectively.

With regard to the pandemic situation at the Da Nang-based Matrix Vietnam Co., Ltd., Mr Quang asked the Authority of Da Nang Hi-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks to rectify and require the head of the company to be responsible for the outbreak of the pandemic.

"The municipal authorities do not ban businesses from operating, but in the process of operation, it must absolutely ensure the safety of workers, not let it go on forever, thereby burdening the government" noted Secretary Quang.

For his part, Chairman of Lien Chieu District People's Committee Nguyen Dang Huy said that over the past 7 days, a combined total of 433 new COVID-19 cases have been detected in the community. Of which, 239 cased have been recorded in 22 enterprises, including 205 cases in the Matrix Vietnam Co., Ltd.

He explained the reason for high number of COVID-19 cases in industrial parks is that having lots of workers packed closely together in a closed environment with shred air-conditioning system created ideal conditions for a virus to spread.

Besides, workers are still subjective, relying on the fact that they have been fully vaccinated, so the contact process has not kept the correct distance. At the same time, most of the workers are in the same rental properties and often have close contacts.
