Da Nang hospital activates 'post-COVID-19' consultation and treatment clinic
The Da Nang General Hospital has started operating a consultation and treatment clinic for the ‘post-COVID-19’ syndrome.
The clinic is in charge of offering comprehensive examination, screening, counseling and treatment of the sequelae of COVID-19, in parallel with assessing the need for intervention in terms of nutrition, physical therapy and rehabilitation for patients after COVID-19 infection.
According to Doctor Nguyen Thanh Trung, Deputy Director of the hospital, the COVID-19 pandemic is now entering its third year, severely affecting the economic and social life and people’s health. In particular, more than two-thirds of COVID-19 patients, after their recovery, still suffer from functional disorders and symptoms which may last for several months or even longer.
Post-COVID-19 syndrome includes many different symptoms, affecting many organ systems such as fatigue, shortness of breath, prolonged cough, pulmonary fibrosis, blood clots, tachycardia, nervousness, headache, anxiety, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, loss of smell and taste, muscle and joint pain, anorexia and digestive disorders.
Depending on symptoms facing the patients, the hospital appoints doctors with expertise in each aspect to treat them. The clinic also performs comprehensive screening for the sequelae of the highly contagious disease, and in tandem with assessing the need for nutritional intervention, physical therapy and rehabilitation for patients.
