As part of the “One million national flags for fishermen” programme, on Tuesday morning, the Da Nang People’s Committee in collaboration with the Nguoi Lao Dong (Labourers) Newspaper presented 10,000 national flags to fishermen across Da Nang at the city’s Tho Quang Fishing Wharf and Port.

The practical activity aimed to show the special care of the authorities at all levels in encouraging the fishermen to continue their fishing activities in order to both earn their living and safeguard the nation’s sacred sovereignty over its sea and islands.

It is known that the structure of occupations and boats in Da Nang is changing in the direction of reducing fishery catch in the coastal waters and inland areas, and increasing fishery catch in high seas.

Till date, Da Nang has a total of 1,227 fishing vessels, of which 582 are operating in the high seas. 115 production solidarity groups at sea have been established with the participation of 816 fishing boats.
