According to a bulletin recently released by the Central Coast Hydro-meteorological Station, due to the influence of cold air, from now until April 19, some places in the central coastal region is experiencing scattered rain, with moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

The mainland is bracing for strong wind at levels 2 - 3, whilst coastal areas are experiencing wind levels 3 - 4, with a gust of more than level 4.

Central provinces from Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue are suffering the cold weather at night and in the morning with the lows of 19 – 21 degrees Celsius, and 17 - 19 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas.

The waters off localities from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai see scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places, and the wind has gradually climbed to levels 6 - 7, the sea is slightly rough, the sea waves are 1.5 - 2.5m high.

The waters off the Hoang Sa (Parace) Islands are witnessing strong northeasterly winds of level 6, gusts of levels 7-8, rough seas, and sea waves being 2-3.5m high.

During a thunderstorm, it is necessary to watch out for whirlwinds and strong gusts of wind.

The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Mitigation and Control has just sent an official dispatch requesting the centrally-governed provinces and cities to strengthen measures to actively respond to thunderstorms accompanied by whirlwinds, lightning and hail in order to overcome any possible consequences and minimise damage caused by this type of disaster.

Over the past few days, agricultural cooperatives in Da Nang have mobilised workers and reapers to urgently harvest rice in low-lying and fallen rice fields to protect crops and avoid damage.
Further damage due to rain is likely to occur in the coming days.

Many members and farmers of the Hoa Tien 1 General Business and Production Service Cooperative in Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District were excited to harvest edible rice with a yield of about 64-73 quintals/ha.

Although the yield is not as high as the winter-spring crop in 2021 due to the influence of heavy rain and flooding at the beginning and end of the crop, according to many farmers, this year's winter-spring rice crop is still good.

Meanwhile, the Hoa Chau 1 General Business and Production Service Cooperative in Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District has mobilised machines to actively harvest rice in low-lying and fallen fields.

According to initial estimates, the average rice yield of this cooperative is nearly 75 quintals/ha, equivalent to last year's winter-spring crop.

In order to avoid any damage to farmers both due to falling market prices and possible wet weather in the coming days, the cooperative has contacted a seed company to for the sale of rice freshly harvested by farmers for 5,700 VND/kg immediately upon harvest, higher than the market price.
